Diana Vreeland
Diana Vreeland was a noted columnist and editor in the field of fashion. She worked for Harper's Bazaar and was editor-in- chief of Vogue as well as a special consultant at the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. In fact it was at Diana’s invitation that Kenneth handled the jewelry for the Met’s Costume Institute. In the early years of their 30-year friendship Diana pushed Kenneth to help him shine – he would later say “her precision was a perfect education for a young designer, particularly in matters of color.” By 1968 nearly every Vogue fashion editorial featured KJL’s extravagant, over-the- top earrings, necklaces and belts.
